Been taken over not impressed
Very disappointed. This is the first time I have been to the store since new management. I bought a rather large amount of stuff, as I was so excited to see a few unusual items that I had previously only seen in larger london stores. I wish I hadn't bothered. The blueberry ice not cream and the peanut butter ice not cream is disgusting. it was expensive and was clearly very old stock, the top of both had gone rubbery and plasticy, it looks and tastes like the freezer broke, they defrosted and then refroze them again at a later date. I bought two types of tofu from the fresh fridge and when I got them home to cook with realised that the price labels had been strategically placed over the sell/use by dates which were MARCH not May. So useless to me. When I showed interest in the cakes (which looked a tad dried out in the fridge) I was aggressively told "they are vegan you know!" - I have to be honest, their assumption that I a) didn't know I was in a vegan health food store and b) that I am not vegan is pretty bloody rude, but I would have looked past that if everything else had been even vaguely okay - it wasn't.I am sorely disappointed about this and won't return. I have no way of contacting them, except going back into the store or phoning the already rude lady behind the counter, and to be honest, I could do without that right now. My advice is check the dates (even f you have to peel off their labels) and DO NOT buy the ice not cream (in fact be a bit cautious about everything in the freezer).
Great health food shop, also a vegan/vegetarian deli that sells raw foods, dried goods, canned goods, healthy snacks, vegan & vegetarian cheese/hams, vegan chocolate etc, great shop with friendly helpful staff.
